The Story Behind the Favourite Ornament 2026

Each year, Helge Brink creates a new motif for the Brink Nordic Favourite Ornament collection. Every motif is inspired by the traditions, memories and familiar symbols that have shaped the classic Christmas season for generations.

For 2026, the annual Christmas ornament is dedicated to one of the most recognisable flowers of the season: the poinsettia.

A Christmas ornament inspired by childhood memories

When Helge begins creating a new Christmas ornament, he often returns to memories from his childhood and the traditions that surrounded Christmas in his family.

The inspiration behind the Favourite Ornament 2026 comes from one of these memories.

“For many of us, the poinsettia has a permanent place in the window during Christmas. For me, it also holds a very special childhood memory. My uncle was a gardener, and I remember how the beginning of the Christmas season seemed to arrive when he started growing the first poinsettias in his greenhouses.”

It is this combination of personal memories and familiar Christmas traditions that has inspired the poinsettia motif for 2026.

A classic symbol of Christmas

Today the poinsettia has become an unmistakable part of Christmas in homes across Europe and the Nordic countries.

Every year, the characteristic red leaves return to windowsills and Christmas decorations, signalling that the festive season is approaching.

Known internationally as both poinsettia and the Christmas star, the flower carries a long history that reaches beyond its decorative role. Today, it has become one of those small, familiar details that many of us instinctively associate with Christmas.

A Christmas tradition interpreted in glass

For Brinks Favourite Ornament 2026, Helge Brink has interpreted the poinsettia as a Christmas ornament, allowing a familiar seasonal motif to become part of the decorations that return to the Christmas tree every season.

Hang it among your favourite Nordic Christmas decorations, alongside ornaments collected over time, and let it become part of your own Christmas traditions and memories.
